I am so impressed with how well the pupils in 4C have settled into the new academic year. I couldn’t be prouder of how far each and every one of them has come in just eight weeks.
Over the last week, we have been completing our hot writes to finish our writing topic. I can’t wait to read them, as pupils have worked really hard on their pieces. In Maths, we have been focusing on area. To build conceptual understanding, we have taken a very hands-on approach, exploring how to calculate the area of different shapes using sticky notes.
October is Black History Month. In our collective workshop, we have been exploring what this means and its importance. We have been recognising the amazing achievements and contributions of Black individuals. On Thursday, we all discussed and wrote about our Black History Month heroes.

Over this past half term in Art and D&T, we have been designing Celtic shields. As the Celts were known for being less organised, our shields in their different colours and shapes reflect this. Here are some of the wonderful shields created by the children.

Don’t forget to be practising those pesky timestables over half term holiday, let’s beat the other Year 4 classes.
Have a wonderful, but restful half term holiday 4C.
Miss Chadwick 🙂
